Yle: Researchers find a way to get young people interested in the risks of the Internet

Yle wrote an article about the Some Machine developed by Generation AI. In the article, Professor Matti Tedre talks about the Some machine, which is currently being tested in schools with fifth and eighth graders. Somekone is an application designed to simulate social media activity. Students first browse through the image stream fed into the machine. Just like in real social media, photos can be commented on, liked and shared, and you can playfully follow the person who posted them. Then Somekone will tell you what information has been collected about the user, what profile has been created and what kind of recommendations they will receive in the future. Finally, the app shows you what kind of social network the class has formed.

Somekone is still in the development phase, but the aim is for the app to be available in all schools and homes. At the end of the article, you can also test how well you know how social media works.
